The North Star District Pinewood Derby is an annual event. Incorporating the idea of child and parent to build a Pinewood Derby Car together, quality time which doesn’t happen much anymore. Packs across the nation utilize a track within their local neighborhood every year to race. Those Pack winners get a chance to compete at the District level, to see whose has the car with the quickest time! Pinewood Derby Cars are not powered by gasoline or any other type of fuel; nothing but the force of gravity rushing down the track! Where the winner is the racer that crosses the finish first and with the fastest time.
On race day, the excitement builds as scouts gather to compete on a specially designed track. Races are typically organized in a bracket format, allowing each car to face off against others in a thrilling series of heats. Awards are given not only for speed but also for categories such as Best Design and Most Creative, ensuring that every scout's effort is recognized. The Pinewood Derby serves not only as a fun and competitive event but also as a platform for building camaraderie among scouts and their families, reinforcing the values of sportsmanship and community spirit.
